Camp Living Stones Staff goes whitewater rafting on the Ocoee River

July 26, 2009

The staff of Camp Living Stones took a break from preparing to host their next group at Camp to enjoy a day of challenging the whitewater rapids of the Ocoee River. The Living Stones staff was hosted by Sunburst Adventures (a division of Ocoee River Whitewater Rafting, LLC). The staff was treated to rafting the Upper Ocoee River as it flows by the 1996 Ocoee Whitewater Center, site of the 1996 Olympic Canoe and Kayak Whitewater Slalom events. After navigating the awesome rapids of the Olympic course the staff enjoyed a delicious lunch on the banks of the river and watched as rafts and boaters tried their hand at the rapids. After an exciting hour of watching the action on the Olympic course the staff reboarded their rafts and  took off to paddle the almost continous rapids of the Middle Ocoee River.  Kace, Abigayle, and Wes did a great job of showing the Living Stones Staff the many hidden play spots of the Ocoee. After a short ride back to the Sunburst Outpost the staff got to relive some of the more exciting moments of the day as they saw the photos Sunburst took of them at “Godzilla”, “Humongous” and “Double Trouble”. After a day of whitewater fun in the sun it was back to work to prepare for the next group of kids and the wonderful work that is done at Camp Living Stones.
